Statement on the Reported Attack Targeting a Michigan Synagogue

“Horrifying reports out of Michigan indicate a vehicle ramming and shooting at a synagogue — an act that appears to target people simply because of their faith.

Wake up. Antisemitism is growing at an alarming rate, and the silence of society’s response has been deafening.

Words matter. When people chant “globalize the intifada,” it fuels hatred and violence. That rhetoric must be condemned — not excused, rationalized, or normalized.

Violence or discrimination based on race or religion is abhorrent to this nation’s most fundamental principles. No one in America should have to fear going to their house of worship.

I will always stand with and speak up for the Jewish community — and so should every American.

“Never Again” must be more than words.”
